Abkhazi Garden
1964 Fairfield Road, Victoria, British Colombia
Colorful rhododendrons spill over rocky slopes in Abkhazi Garden, a trove of plants and trees hidden behind a hedge in a quiet Victoria neighborhood. From springtime blooms to fall foliage, Abkhazi Garden puts on a show throughout the year; an on-site teahouse invites lingering over lavish spreads of scones, tea sandwiches, and sweets.
Surrounding the former home of Prince and Princess Abkhazi, the garden is an oasis for plant lovers. An included stop on some Victoria tours and shore excursions, the 1.4-acre (0.57-hectare) Abkhazi Garden have paths, benches, and views for leisurely exploring. Check it out on your own, or contact the garden to arrange a volunteer-run tour. Just as popular as the garden itself is the Abkhazi Garden teahouse, which turns afternoon tea into a special occasion.
- Great stop for gardeners and plant lovers.
- Admission to the volunteer-run garden is by suggested donation.
- Abkhazi Garden is not wheelchair accessible, and uneven surfaces may be difficult for travelers with limited mobility.
