GM Renaissance Center is on the downtown riverfront at 100 Renaissance Center between Jefferson Ave., E. Atwater St., Renaissance Dr. W. and Beaubien St. A 14-acre complex of lofty buildings, the “RenCen” includes one of the world's tallest hotels and also is the global headquarters of General Motors. The five-story, glass-enclosed GM Wintergarden atrium overlooks the Detroit River. The Circulation Ring, comprised of 288 suspended etched-glass panels, connects the center's four main office towers. The GM Showroom, on Level A, displays an array of GM products, including current models, vintage cars and conceptual vehicles. Six video projection screens highlight the automaker's initiatives and services. Visitors can view a “turn-by-turn” vehicle demonstration at the On Star Command Center. Outside, on the Riverfront Plaza and Promenade, is a map of the world carved in granite. Time: Allow 20 minutes minimum. Food is available.
