Guthrie Theater

818 S. 2nd St., Minneapolis, MN, 55415

Guthrie Theater is at 818 S. 2nd St. Founded in 1963, the nationally acclaimed Guthrie is a center for performance, production, education and professional theater training, and is also well known for dynamic productions of both classic and contemporary works. Designed by French architect Jean Nouvel, the building houses three state-of-the-art stages; dramatic public spaces include a 175-foot cantilevered bridge overlooking the Mississippi River. Backstage tours highlight the intricate steps that take a play from conception to performance and include stops at various production shops where costumes, props and sets are created and detailed. An Architecture Tour covers details from building design to neighborhood inspirations. Visitors also can take self-guiding audio tours of the public spaces. Guided tours are available. Food is available.
