John Wesley Powell River History Museum is at 1765 E. Main St. The museum features photographs, artifacts, models, displays and maps that describe the exploration of the Green and Colorado rivers as well as the geological formation of the rivers' gorges and mountains. Some exhibits focus on the accomplishments of 19th-century explorer John Wesley Powell, whose expeditions contributed to the development of the Colorado Plateau. An art gallery and a visitor center are on the premises.
