Pisgah National Forest

Part of the Appalachian Trail winds along the northwestern boundary. US 276, which runs for 37 miles between Brevard and Waynesville, is part of the Forest Heritage National Scenic Byway and offers access to various points of interest.

District rangers are stationed at Mars Hill, Nebo and Pisgah Forest. Pisgah headquarters is open Mon.-Sat. 9-5, mid-Apr. to early Nov.; Mon.-Fri. 8-4:30, rest of year. Information can be obtained at these stations or from the Visitor Information Center at the Forest Supervisor's Office, 160 Zillicoa St., Suite A, Asheville, NC 28801; phone (828) 257-4200.
