The Marine Mammal Care Center at Fort MacArthur, 3601 S. Gaffey St., is a rehabilitation facility where ill or injured seals and sea lions are nursed back to health for return to their natural environment. Visitors can view the animals from a fenced area surrounding the center. Phone (310) 548-5677.

The American Merchant Marine Veterans Memorial, a bronze statue at S. Harbor Boulevard and W. Sixth Street, honors merchant marine veterans from all wars.
