The area boasts farmland, timberland and mineral springs. Those same springs made it part of a popular resort region until the early 20th century. Historic features abound, especially on Main Street. An eye-catching 1952 Chevrolet truck is parked outside Kittles Hardware and Supply, at 405 Main St. Once home to Ford Model-Ts and General Motors, the 15,000-square-foot store has sold hardware and essential supplies since the 1950s; phone (304) 772-3009. North on US 219 is the Indian Creek Covered Bridge, part of a former Native American path called the Seneca Trail or the Warrior’s Path.
Moncove Lake State Park, 695 Moncove Lake Access Rd., is a wildlife management and recreation area, which is in nearby Gap Mills. Phone (304) 772-3450.
Agriculture remains an economic force and a source of pride. Farmer's Day , an annual event in early June, celebrates agriculture with a parade, street dance and fireworks.
