A local architectural oddity is the Teapot Dome, which stands in a small park half a mile east of I-82 exit 52 at 117 First Ave., a block east of Cheyne Road. Built in the 1920s as a parody of the then-current Teapot Dome petroleum lease scandal, the squat, circular, red-and-white structure served as a gas station until 2004 and was relocated to the present site in 2012. Instead of fuel, this National Historic Landmark now dispenses tourist information.
