Turtleback Mountain Preserve lies on the west side of Orcas Island and comprises grasslands, oak woodlands, conifer forests and wetlands. The 1,578-acre preserve's high elevation allows for spectacular views of the Canadian Gulf and San Juan Islands. Visitors can hike on two trails, and bird-watching is a popular activity. The Orcas Island Farmers Market sets up Saturdays 10-3 off North Beach Road in Eastsound, May through September, and Saturdays 11-2 at the Odd Fellows Hall at 112 Haven St., October through November.
