Following his residency at Belvoir with his cousin William Fairfax, Lord Thomas Fairfax moved to White Post in 1748 and built Greenway Court, where he threw lavish parties for his male acquaintances. He lived at Greenway Court until his death at the age of 91. Legend has it that Fairfax, a loyal Tory, took to his bed and died soon after he learned of Gen. Charles Cornwallis' surrender.
