Pembina Gorge Trail System offers more than 450 miles of groomed trails for snowmobiling and multiuse trails for ATVs and dirt bikes. One mile south of Walhalla on SR 32 is 432-acre Tetrault Woods State Forest. Activities include canoeing in late spring; picnicking, hiking and fishing in summer; and snowmobiling and cross-country skiing in winter. Phone (701) 549-2441.
Among the facilities at Walhalla Riverside Park, on the south edge of town off Riverside Avenue via 9th Street, are campsites, a heated pool, tennis courts, nature trails and a playground. The park is open from mid-May through September; phone (701) 549-3289 for camping reservations.
The Frost Fire Theatre, 7 miles west of town on CR 55, presents a musical during the month of July. Wednesday and Sunday matinee and Saturday evening performances take place in an open-air amphitheater; for more information, phone (701) 549-3600. Parades, games, music, arts and crafts and a fireworks show are all part of the Fierce Fun on the Fourth , which takes place in downtown Walhalla and at Riverside Park. Giant Pumpkin Festival events are held throughout town the last Saturday in September.
