The success of many lumber, paper, cloth and hat mills was assured with the arrival of the Morris and Essex Railroad, later called the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad. The tracks linked Millburn with Newark, New York City and the coal industry to the northwest.
A former mill on Brookside Drive is now the home of the Paper Mill Playhouse, New Jersey's designated state theater. The season runs from October through June. Phone (973) 376-4343.
