Bird watchers will want to explore Hamden Slough National Wildlife Refuge, which offers excellent opportunities for viewing waterfowl, marsh and shorebirds, in addition to birds of prey during spring and fall migrations. Prairie chickens, marbled godwits and other Midwestern prairie species are commonly seen.
