Dock Square has restored structures housing boutiques and galleries. Parson's Way, a scenic public walkway, begins at Dock Square and continues past Walker's Point. Along the docks several boats offer chartered deep-sea fishing, sailing, whale-watching or lobstering excursions. Sightseeing cruises of the Kennebunk River and coastal islands also are available.
Beyond the village Ocean Avenue follows the rocky shore of Cape Arundel to Cape Porpoise, a year-round fishing village. From Cape Porpoise pier it is possible to view the lighthouse on Goat Island. This scenic drive is lined with fine old mansions that are now restaurants or lodgings.
A waterspout, produced by water forced by the incoming tide through such formations as the spouting rock and the blowing cave, can be seen at Cape Arundel near Walker's Point—summer home of former President George H.W. Bush. Parking is not permitted along Ocean Avenue, but it is available at nearby Womby Beach. Farther “down east” via SR 9 is picturesque Goose Rocks Beach.
