Today Newton attracts art and sculpture enthusiasts, history buffs, motorsports fans and festival-goers. Automobile racing takes place at Iowa Speedway. An 8-mile hiking and bicycling trail loops around Newton. Since 1934, the lighting of the Jasper County Courthouse and Christmas parade is held Friday after Thanksgiving.
