Ferndale
The ornate Victorian houses known as “butterfat palaces,” built by Danish and Portuguese dairymen, reflect the town's past and present. In fact, due to preservation efforts the entire town is designated a state historical landmark. South of town via Bluff Street is Russ Park, which features 3 miles of nature trails looping through a 110-acre tract of coastal forest. The park is a popular spot for bird-watchers.
