Self-guiding Tours

The Gold Fever Trail Guide, a 2- to 3-hour auto tour, covers 15 sites of the 1860-63 gold rush that occurred in Holcomb Valley just north of the lake. A high-clearance, four-wheel-drive vehicle is recommended to safely traverse the trail. The free guide is available at Big Bear Discovery Center, 2.7 miles east of Fawnskin on SR 38; phone (909) 382-2790 or (909) 866-3437.
