Outdoor enthusiasts will find miles of hiking and bicycle trails throughout the city that connect to the Razorback Regional Greenway, a 36-mile, mostly off-road route that stretches from Fayetteville to Bentonville. Nearby Lake Wedington offers camping, cabins, a boat ramp and fishing.
The Battle of Fayetteville Commemoration is held on a weekend close to the anniversary of the April 18, 1863, engagement; living-history demonstrations include battle camp cooking, weaving, quilting and other crafts of the Civil War period. The 4-day Bikes, Blues & BBQ Motorcycle Rally brings some 400,000 visitors into town in late September or early October; phone (479) 527-9993. The downtown square hosts First Thursday Fayetteville featuring local artisans and entertainment the first Thursday of the month.
