Cape Spear Lighthouse National Historic Site

The lighthouse has been restored and furnished to demonstrate the tradition of lighthouse keepers' work in the province. The site contains World War II gun emplacements and a visitor center with exhibits about lighthouses. The site's scenery attracts hikers, photographers and whale watchers.

Handheld GPS devices that provide visual and audio narration based on the user's location within the site are available at the visitor center; the rental fee is included in the lighthouse admission price.

Note: Visitors may encounter construction zones and limited services while the site undergoes infrastructure rehabilitation; phone ahead for updates. Grounds daily 24 hours. Lighthouse daily 10:30-5:30, June 1-early Sept.; Wed.-Sun. 10:30-5:30, mid-May through May 31; Sat.-Wed. 10:30-5:30, early Sept. to mid-Oct. Visitor center daily 10-5:30, mid-May to mid-Oct.
