DESTINATION

Mont-Tremblant

Spring through fall, hiking and bicycling opportunities are many and the settings are varied—flat or steep, open or wooded, inland or waterside. The 232-kilometre (144-mi.) Parc linéaire Le P'tit Train du Nord is Canada's longest linear park, and a favorite with bicyclists, cross-country skiers and snowmobilers. Mont-Tremblant National Park is forest wilderness with ample wildlife viewing opportunities. The more adventurous can climb rock faces. Six golf courses and numerous tennis courts round out the venue.

The area's streams, rivers and waterfalls as well as hundreds of lakes offer myriad chances for swimming, boating, sailing, kayaking, water skiing, canoeing and viewing experiences. Fishing aficionados can count among their catch speckled and brown trout and northern pike.

Winter recreation facilities include 96 alpine ski runs, tubing slopes and groomed trails for cross-country skiers. For snowmobilers, thousands of kilometres of trails lead to and through small towns and through wilderness areas. Morning and noontime dog sledding trips are available. For the truly hardy, ice climbing lessons are available—along with the rental gear.

Special events, large and small, are held throughout the year. In the summer Circuit Mont-Tremblant holds international automobile races from mid-June through September 30; phone (819) 425-6363. In July the Tremblant International Blues Festival (Festival international du blues de Tremblant) attracts thousands—bands from across North and South America perform on outdoor stages and in bars and restaurants; phone (819) 681-3000.
