Community festivities over a 2-week period include a rodeo and a procession of floats, bands, horse brigades, clowns and dignitaries marching down Main Street in the Days of '47 Parade .
Other events include the Utah Arts Festival in late June; the Hot Air Balloon Festival in August in Sandy; the Utah State Fair and the Salt Lake City Greek Festival , both in September; and, after Thanksgiving, the Christmas Lighting of Temple Square .
