AAA Editor Notes
Interstate State Park is .5 mi. s. of US 8 on SR 35. This 1,377-acre park lies along the east side of the Dalles of the St. Croix River, a scenic gorge carved out of bedrock by glacial meltwater. The canyon walls rise 200 feet above the river. On the other side of the river is Minnesota's Interstate Park. The Old Man of the Dalles, a unique rock formation, and potholes formed by the swirling current of glacial meltwaters are in the park.
The area is one of nine units that make up the Ice Age National Scientific Reserve. A 24-minute film about the reserve is shown in the Ice Age Interpretive Center, near the park entrance off SR 35. Naturalist programs are offered year-round. The park has several hiking trails, and the lake offers a beach and bathhouse.
Pet friendly (call for restrictions/fees.). Recreational activities are permitted. Camping is permitted. Picnicking is permitted.
