Nevada Northern Railway Museum, e. of town at 1100 Ave. A at jct. 11th St. E., includes a restored depot, a dispatcher's office, a roundhouse and a machine shop in addition to restored cars, steam locomotives and artifacts from various eras. One-hour, 45-minute steam and diesel train rides to Keystone or Lavon Junction are offered.
Guided tours, cab rides, and sunset and holiday-themed excursions in fall and winter also are available. And, although the Be the Engineer fee is hefty ($745-$970), the engineer-supervised program provides qualified participants with the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take the throttle of a steam or diesel locomotive; reservations are required.
