What to Do in Wasaga Beach

Wasaga Beach, 14 kilometres (9 mi.) of sandy coastline along Georgian Bay, is believed to be one of the world's longest freshwater beaches, but this matters little to those who come each summer to bask in the sun or swim, sail and fish in the bay. Hiking can be enjoyed in summer; winter activities include snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. Before it became a summer resort, Wasaga Beach was an important transportation route and the last part of the Nine Mile Portage canoe route, a vital supply route during the War of 1812. The beach is now part of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park.
