British Columbia's Alaska Scenic Highway

141.5 miles: 3 hours, 3 minutes

The Tetsa and Toad Rivers carve a path through through northern British Columbia's densely forested mountains on the Alaska Highway (PR 97), creating pretty storybook valleys. Drive by Muncho Lake: It's so clear you can see pebbles on the bottom and so smooth it mirrors the surrounding mountains. Aspen and spruce march up the mountainsides in a deep green procession.

Popular with backcountry hikers, Northern British Columbia's undisturbed forests are a prominent feature on this scenic section of the Alaska Highway (PR 97). Inside Wokkpash Gorge in Stone Mountain Provincial Park, amazing rock formations known as hoodoos reach for the sky with bony-looking fingers.
