SCENIC BYWAY

Alberta's Yellowhead Scenic Highway, Jasper to British Columbia

23.1 miles: 0 hours, 35 minutes

Cross the Continental Divide at Yellowhead Pass and revel in the splendid vistas unfolding around you. Deep, lush valleys fold into shimmering streams. Mountain slopes rise to ragged, icy peaks. Surreal sapphire lakes inspire passing photogs and painters. Elk and bighorn sheep roam freely, occasionally taking the scenic route along the byway.

This slice of Yellowhead Highway—a 2,960-kilometre (1,840-mi.) route connecting British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba—cuts through Jasper National Park. Home to a diverse array of wildlife, the park boasts snow-capped mountains, emerald lakes and waterfalls. Plus, melting glaciers in spring and summer make it the place to go for white-water rafting.
