Hard Rock Hotel San Diego

Tiny queen bed guest room with awkward, impossible to move, heavy chairs. The room's fridge was stuffed with the hotel's retail beverages for sale - leaving no room for our own things! The small counter space also had a bunch of snack items for sale. There is a weird vertical see-through "window" between the bedroom and bathroom. No, thank you. The sink stopper in the bathroom did not work, so our sink did not hold water for shaving. Hotel lobby bar was poorly staffed with a long wait for beverage ordering. One of the two bartenders looked profoundly miserable. While the AAA room rate was about $234 a night, the final charge totalled $350 per night after all of the amenity fees, taxes, and $58 parking. That's a Big cost for such a tiny, awkward, unwelcoming room. Also, we were not told about construction in the lobby area - it was so loud guests checking in had to shout with the desk clerks. At 5 am we awoke (in our 7th floor room) to the sound of a man below screaming and growling in front of the hotel. Hotel security guards were simply watching him throw things into traffic and menace pedestrians. This went on for nearly an hour. No SDPD ever arrived, so don't know if they were notified. The one positive was our five minute walk to the entrance of Petco Park for an evening game.

Great location and easy to get to Petco park

We did not receive the suite we booked on AAA travel. We were excited to experience the Hard Rock Suite but were given a studio instead. The Hotel Manager (Victoria) stated that the error was from AAA travel and not the Hard Rock. The Manager did waive the resort fee for our inconvenience. In addition, the bathroom had a really bad dirty drain smell that was very unpleasant.

We didn’t get the room we anticipated on getting. Not enough space and no other rooms available except for the diamond suite which they wanted us to pay an additional $1500 for. They tried to make up for their mistake (telling me the suite has 2 bedrooms) by bringing a rollaway bed.
