AAA Diamond Inspector Notes
You'll feel like you’re far away from city life at this Polynesian-inspired Mission Bay resort, which is surrounded by lush, tropical plants and flowers. Many units have panoramic ocean views. Be sure to visit the six resident parrots located outside the lobby building. An afternoon show is featured during spring and summer months. Smoke free premises. 311 units. 2-13 stories (no elevator), interior/exterior corridors.

The Resort has not been updated for some time, but are charging at a higher resort rate. The bathrooms, bedding, carpets, and hallways are outdated. The staff and Desk Managers were wonderful, understood and were accommodating to our request to depart after a day.
Hello, Thank you for rating your stay. Please know your feedback will help others as they make hotel decisions on AAA.com. Best, Chuck
Lots of repair and updates needed at this hotel. Sliding patio doors hard to open, toilet running, bad odor in room, basically outdated in many areas but in the process of updating. Great location is only benefit.
All in all my stay at the Catamaran was fine for my much-needed get away. The staff (front desk, concierge, restaurant, etc.) is lovely. The beach, bayside and the five minute stroll to the ocean, a delight. The hotel is old, from the bathtub with the rubber mat to the filthy (I kid you not) landline. The property of the Catamaran is large. The sidewalk is poorly lit, so getting around in the dark is a challenge. An added note: if you are walking to the tower from the lobby, , do not follow the sign leading you to the right. I am still scratching my head over that one. The only path from the lobby to the tower is left out of the lobby door. For this reviewer, it all boils down to truly enjoying the moments of lap swimming in the pool and beach-walking.
