Whistler-Blackcomb Mountains

Whistler, British Colombia

The biggest ski resort in North America and mountain host of the 2010 Winter Olympics, Whistler-Blackcomb Mountains feature 8,171 acres (3,306 hectares) of terrain and over 200 trails. With lift-accessed mountain biking, hiking, and more in the spring, summer, and fall, Whistler-Blackcomb is a world-class resort year-round.

Whistler and Blackcomb are two separate mountains connected by the Peak 2 Peak Gondola. Most winter visitors come here for skiing and snowboarding, but it’s also possible to take a snowshoe, snowmobile, or snow-cat tour.

There’s plenty to do outside of winter, too, including mountain biking, hiking, ziplining, and taking an ATV or jeep tour, among other activities. There are also four championship golf courses in the area. Or take to the skies on a helicopter or floatplane tour. Whistler Village has plenty of dining, shopping, and entertainment options to keep visitors occupied.

  • Whistler-Blackcomb is suitable for adventure travelers and outdoor enthusiasts.

  • Single-day, multi-day, and season passes are available for both skiing and mountain biking.

  • Equipment rental, instructions, and mountain tours are available for skiing, snowboarding, and mountain biking.

  • It’s possible to take the gondolas (including the Peak 2 Peak Gondola) for sightseeing only.

Whistler-Blackcomb Mountains are located in Whistler, British Columbia. From Vancouver, it’s about a 2-hour drive along Highway 99 (Sea to Sky Highway). Shuttle services are also available between Whistler Village and Vancouver and Vancouver airport.

When to visit Whistler-Blackcomb depends on what you want to do. The ski season is one of the longest in North America and typically runs from mid-November to mid-May, depending on snow conditions. The mountain bike season typically runs from mid-May to mid-October.

The Peak 2 Peak Gondola is the world’s highest and longest continuous lift system, at 1,427 feet (436 meters) high at 2.7 miles (4.4 kilometers) long. It connects the Roundhouse Lodge on Whistler Mountain and the Rendezvous Restaurant on Blackcomb Mountain. For an extra rush, take one of the glass-floored gondolas.
