Turda Salt Mine (Salina Turda)

Set nearly 400 feet (120 meters) below ground, the Turda Salt Mine (Salina Turda) was excavated for centuries before opening to the public in 1992. The subterranean, salt-encrusted chambers now host a Ferris wheel, mini golf, table tennis, an amphitheater, and a boating lake.
The basics
A standard admission ticket grants you access to the mine's interior; all rides and activities cost extra. Tours, which typically depart from Cluj-Napoca or Brașov, tend to combine convenient round-trip transport with a guided tour of the mines. Full-day tours often combine a visit to the salt mine with regional highlights such as the steep-sided Turda Gorge;the quaint village of Rimetea; and the Alba Carolina Citadel in the former capital of Alba lulia.

There is free Wi-Fi at the mine, and an ATM at the entrance.
Parts of the mine are wheelchair-accessible. Wheelchair users can access the mine through the entrance on Strada Salinelor.
How to get there
Turda Salt Mine is set just north of the town of Turda. Driving from Cluj-Napoca takes about 45 minutes. Buses run between the Autogara Fany terminal in Cluj-Napoca and Turda town center. From Turda town center, you’ll need to catch local bus number 17 to reach the mine entrance.
When to get there
The salt mine attracts most visitors between June and August. During these months, you may have to wait in line for the elevator, which transports people up and down from the mines. If you don’t mind a little exercise, you can take the stairs instead.
