Sioux City Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center is off I-29 exit 149 (Hamilton Blvd.), then s. to 900 Larsen Park Rd. Through hand-painted murals and lifelike animatronic mannequins, exhibits tell the story of the Corps of Discovery's passage through the Sioux City area, with emphasis on the military aspects of the expedition. Rotating exhibits also are presented. Several gardens contain examples of plant species encountered by the explorers, and the Betty Strong Encounter Center preserves the area's heritage. Life-size bronze animal sculptures also are on the grounds. Educational and entertainment programs are offered. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
