SCAD Museum, at 601 Turner Blvd., is in a restored antebellum railroad depot—said to be the country's oldest remaining example—owned by the Savannah College of Art and Design. In addition to architectural details, such as Savannah gray brick, the contemporary art museum features commissioned as well as rotating selections from emergent and established creatives. Exhibitions range from multimedia sound installations to photography and may be provocative. Also on-site are classrooms, curatorial spaces and SCAD Museum of Art Theater. Lectures, creative programs and screenings are available. Guided tours are available.
