Mine Creek Civil War Battlefield State Historic Site is 2 mi. s. on US 69, then .5 mi. w. on SR 52. One of the last significant Civil War battles fought west of the Mississippi River occurred here in 1864. Walking trails, marked with interpretive signs, traverse the 600-acre battlefield site. A visitor center features Civil War exhibits and firsthand accounts of the battle. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
