House of Mumm (Maison Mumm)

34 Rue du Champ de Mars, Reims, Grand Est

Founded in 1827, G. H. Mumm & Cie—one of the world’s largest and most-esteemed champagne houses—is a popular destination for oenophiles who are looking to sample and discover more about France’s world-class bubbly. Taste the winery’s famed Cordon Rouge Champagne and tour its underground caves as you learn the history of the House of Mumm.

The House of Mumm is a feature on numerous champagne-themed itineraries from the city of Reims, as well as Champagne-region day trips from Paris. Tour through the various stages of production as you wander through the cool, subterranean cellars with your guide. The cellars also are home to a museum on the history of champagne and the winery. One of the highlights of the House of Mumm is the Foujita Chapel, designed by artist Tsuguharu Foujita in the 1960s and decorated with his frescoes. At the end of your tour, taste the world-famous Cordon Rouge and Cordon Rouge Vintage, or Mumm Grand Cru and Mumm Brut Rosé.

If traveling independently, prebook one of several tour packages, which include strolls through the caves and samplings of various esteemed cuvées and even Grand Crus, depending on the option you select.

  • Dress warmly as the champagne caves maintain a chilly temperature throughout the year.

  • Wi-Fi connections are available on-site, even below ground.

  • Tours are given in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Portuguese; private guided tours can be booked upon request.

  • The House of Mumm is accessible to visitors with limited mobility; note your requirements when booking.

The House of Mumm is located on the Rue du Champ de Mars, just on the edge of central Reims. It’s about a 15-minute walk and a 5-minute taxi trip from the city’s main train station, Gare de Reims.

The House of Mumm is open throughout the year, from midmorning to early evening. Days and times vary depending on the season, so check the website or prebook your tour prior to arriving. The House of Mumm closes each day from 1 to 2pm and annually on Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

A walk to the House of Mumm through the Reims city center reveals the usual Gothic cathedrals and World War II monuments found throughout the Champagne region and throughout France. To take a break from sightseeing, visit a city park; in particular, the Park de la Patte d'Oie has fountains, an artificial river, and a children’s area.
