Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is at 8525 Garland Rd. on White Rock Lake. The arboretum embraces 66 acres of trees, flowers and display gardens with ornamental, perennial and color themes. Visitors are encouraged to relax on the spacious lawn and take in a view of the picturesque gardens. A Tasteful Place is a 3.5-acre garden dedicated to growing, harvesting and preparing fresh vegetables, herbs and fruit, along with daily tastings and demonstrations in the Test Pavilion. The Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden is an 8-acre educational garden with 17 indoor-outdoor galleries and 150 interactive exhibits focusing on the life, earth and environmental sciences. Picnicking is permitted.
