Morgantown

Coopers Rock State Forest, 13 miles east off I-68, offers 12,713 acres of forest, interesting rock formations, hiking trails, cross-country ski trails, camping and picnic areas, a 19th-century iron furnace and a spectacular view of the Cheat River Valley. Swimming and boating are popular activities at Cheat Lake, just east of town on I-68.

A 52-mile section of the West Virginia Rail Trail follows the Monongahela River through Morgantown. Ideal for walking, bicycling, jogging and inline skating, the trail is paved within city limits. Morgantown is at the western end of the scenic portion of I-68, which runs east to Hancock, Md.

Shopping

Morgantown Mall, at the junction of I-79 exit 152 and US 19, features JCPenney. Seneca Center, in the old Seneca Glass Factory at 709 Beechurst Ave., contains specialty shops.
