Fort Charrette Historic Village and Museum (charrette is French for “little cart”), 2 miles east off Old SR 100 at 966 Charrette Ln., is a re-creation of a late 17th-century trading post and village. Buildings are furnished with antiques, and there are flower and herb gardens on the grounds. There's also an expansive vista of the Missouri River from this elevated perspective. Guided 2-hour tours are given by appointment; phone (636) 239-4202.
