Crescent City

Lake Earl Wildlife Area, 5 miles north at the junction of Northcrest Drive and Old Mill Road, is a 6,100-acre wildlife habitat offering wildlife observation, boating, hiking, waterfowl hunting and fishing.

Crescent City is at the southern end of a scenic 42-mile stretch of US 199 that heads northeast through Smith River National Recreation Area to the Oregon border. It's also convenient to Jedediah Smith Redwoods and Del Norte Coast Redwoods state parks, both part of Redwood National and State Parks. A visitor center inside the Redwood National and State Parks Headquarters, near the downtown waterfront at 1111 2nd St., has maps and brochures describing both parks; phone (707) 464-6101.
