Carlsbad features plenty of beaches for visitors including Carlsbad State Beach, sometimes called Tamarack Beach, where beachgoers swim, surf, kayak and fish. The Carlsbad Sea Wall runs along this area and provides a paved path for joggers, walkers and cyclists.
The Carlsbad Village hosts a farmers market, 2907 State St., every Wednesday afternoon from 2:30-7, mid-March through November 1; 2:30-6, rest of year. Just off I-5 and US 101 is Batiquitos Lagoon, a wetlands area surrounding a freshwater lake that opens into the ocean. The Carlsbad Village Street Faire is held in early May and early November and features nearly 1,000 arts and crafts and antique vendors as well as entertainment and international food vendors on Grand Avenue.
