Weyburn

W.O. Mitchell, author of the popular novel “Who Has Seen the Wind,” was born and raised in Weyburn. His works often dealt with life on the Canadian prairie, and in them he immortalized the town as “Crocus, Saskatchewan.” Local history is depicted on the “Wheel of Progress” at the Weyburn Public Library, 45 Bison St. Between the spokes of this brass-rimmed mahogany wheel, which weighs 909 kilograms (2,000 lbs.) and has a diameter of 3.9 metres (13 ft.), are 10 mosaic panels showing past city highlights.
