For opera lovers, the Minnesota Opera performs at Ordway Center for the Performing Arts from November through June. The Fitzgerald Theater, in downtown St. Paul at 10 E. Exchange St. (between Wabasha and Cedar streets), is the oldest surviving theater space in the Twin Cities. In 1981 Minnesota-born humorist, storyteller and radio personality Garrison Keillor brought his long-running Minnesota Public Radio program “A Prairie Home Companion” to the then-named World Theater and led the drive to rename it in honor of St. Paul native F. Scott Fitzgerald. In addition to Keillor's long-running radio program “A Prairie Home Companion,” the “Fitz” offers a variety of musical and staged productions.
