Museum of Wisconsin Art

Museum of Wisconsin Art is at 205 Veterans Ave. Overlooking the Milwaukee River, the triangular, modernist museum features a survey collection of historic Wisconsin art (1800-present) in four galleries, with a focus on the works of Milwaukee-Munich artist Carl von Marr in two galleries. The lobby holds an eye-catching digital mixed media work by Tom Bamberger which cycles through about 6,000 images with the purpose of creating memories of past events, people and places. A glass-enclosed storage area gives visitors a peek at artwork that's not on display in the galleries.

Numerous group exhibitions and the monthly One from Wisconsin solo exhibition series feature contemporary Wisconsin artists. The museum also houses the state’s primary research archive on Wisconsin art.
