Olbrich Botanical Gardens
AAA Editor Notes
Olbrich Botanical Gardens is at 3330 Atwood Ave. This oasis on the shores of Lake Monona includes 16 acres of specialty gardens, a 50-foot-high glass conservatory and what is said to be the only Thai pavilion and garden in the continental United States. A two-acre rose garden features hardy shrub roses in mixed borders with fountains and a two-story stone tower overlook. Other gardens display herbs, hostas, perennials, wildflowers and annuals.
The conservatory simulates a rain-forest atmosphere and contains tropical plants, bamboo arbors, a waterfall, palm trees and free-flying birds. Flower shows, concerts and special events are offered throughout the year.
