Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park

Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park is 5.6 mi. s. on US 19, 5.2 mi. w. on SR 129, then .9 mi. s. on Carnifex Ferry Rd. (CR 23). A Civil War engagement was fought on this 156-acre site Sept. 10, 1861. The Patterson House Museum contains Civil War relics from the battle. A Civil War battle re-enactment weekend takes place in September of odd-numbered years.
