Riverside State Park is .3 mi. w. on W. Maxwell Ave. (becomes N. Pettet Dr.), .8 mi. n.w. on N. Pettet Dr. (becomes W. Downriver Dr.), 1.3 mi. w. on W. Downriver Dr., then .9 mi. n. to 4427 N. Aubrey L. White Pkwy. The park covers more than 12,000 acres along a 9-mile stretch of the Spokane River, offering 100 miles of multiuse trails as well as a 600-acre off-road vehicle area.
Highlights include the Bowl and Pitcher, a series of basalt monoliths lining the river; Deep Creek Canyon Overlook; Indian Painted Rocks, which contains ancient petroglyphs; and the riparian habitat of Little Spokane River Natural Area.
Pet friendly (call for restrictions/fees.). Recreational activities are permitted. Camping is permitted. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
