Port Townsend Aero Museum is 5 mi. s. on SR 20, then 1 mi. s. on SR 19 at Jefferson County International Airport, 105 Airport Rd. The main gallery displays 17 rare small planes from a collection numbering 35; most are vintage 1920s to 1940s aircraft. Each has been carefully restored, some from wrecks, and those that are airworthy are flown periodically. Interpretive signs describe each plane's history and performance statistics.
Artwork, historic photographs and model plane displays augment the primary exhibit. A second-floor walkway overlooks the planes, seven of which are suspended from the ceiling. The museum also offers a variety of youth education programs.
