AAA Editor Notes
Bassett Hall is at 522 E. Francis St. at the Colonial Williamsburg Historic Area, off I-64 exit 238. This was the Williamsburg home of John D. and Abby Aldrich Rockefeller. The 18th-century house is named for Martha Washington’s nephew, Burwell Bassett, who owned it 1800-39. It is furnished to reflect the Rockefellers’ lifestyle during the 1930s when they were instrumental in restoring Colonial Williamsburg. A 10-minute video presentation precedes a tour of the house and grounds.
