AAA Editor Notes
Anderson’s Blacksmith Shop & Public Armoury is just w. of jct. Duke of Gloucester St. and N. Botetourt St. at the Colonial Williamsburg Historic Area, off I-64 exit 238. Costumed interpreters convey the amount of work necessary here prior to and during the Revolutionary War to supply soldiers with ammunition and other military supplies.

The reconstructed industrial site encompasses the blacksmith shop, where craftsmen continue to forge iron into such implements as swords, guns and everyday 18th-century items; the Anderson kitchen, where cooking demonstrations take place as part of the Historic Foodways Program; and an armory, which has six structures, including a tinsmithing operation.

Time: Allow 15 minutes minimum.
