Mill Mountain is off Jefferson St. at Walnut Ave., following signs. Rising about 1,000 feet within the city limits, the mountain is topped by a city park and Mill Mountain Zoo. At the crest is the 88-foot-high Roanoke Star, which is illuminated at night.
