Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is 1.5 mi. n. of I-95 exit 80 (Lakeside Ave./Hilliard Rd.) at 1800 Lakeside Ave. This popular garden offers year-round beauty on a historic property of more than 50 landscaped acres. A classical domed conservatory contains changing displays, including more than 200 orchids in bloom.
More than a dozen themed gardens include the Asian Valley, featuring plants native to East Asia; a fountain garden; a rose garden with 1,800 fragrant species; a Victorian garden; a healing garden; and a wetland environment explored via bridges and boardwalks.
Also on-site is a seasonal butterfly house and children’s garden, which offers a wheelchair-accessible tree house, an adventure pathway, an international village and sand and water play areas.
